With every new year comes the sense of a fresh start. This can encompass a variety of resolutions such working out more, eating healthier, getting organized, etc. I love to extend this same feeling toward my closet. The first week of the year, I picked through my all of my clothing and came up with a decent amount to send to the DAV. Part of my “clothing resolution” is to get rid of the items I don’t wear and replace them with more staples to fill in wardrobe holes. I am still trying to build a solid closet with chic staples and occasionally throwing in a few trendy pieces here & there. So as I am brainstorming my missing staple pieces with a 2017 spin, I thought I would share!
1 . Straight Leg Jeans
Everyone has at least one pair of skinny jeans in their denim collection. A pair of straight leg, relaxed fit is yet another “must-have” because of it’s versatile and sense of ease.
2 . Clean White Shirt (with a Twist)
A clean, crisp white shirt is a definite must, but sometimes adding a staple to your closet that is basic with a twist can become a go-to item. I picked up one of these at Zara and loved it because of the slightly oversized style and slits up the side.
3 . Minimal Classic Mini Bag
Every so often you want to ditch your heavy, everyday purse (mine is usually pretty full of who know’s what!) for a sleek, mini bag that is perfect for a night out. Throw your wallet and phone in and you are good to go!
4 . Statement Jacket
A great coat is a must for a fashionista and most of us have a variety of outwear staples such a modern pea coat. But sometimes you need a piece to top off your outfit in the colder months when you feel like making a statement.
5 . Loafers
As we get into the spring season, we can finally give our boots a break and let our ankles breath. I am on the hunt for a pair of fabulous loafers and since the Gucci’s mules were all the rage this last fall, I am sure we will be seeing more to come because these classics never really go out of style!
Thanks for stopping by! Xx
