You can never have too many outerwear pieces…or can you? One of the reasons I like the fall season is that you can play around with layers and really make your outfit multidimensional. Between the hats, scarves, boots, bags and coats, chilly weather is a great opportunity to personalize your own style. You may be freezing your buns off, but at least you’ll look fabulous while doing so!

I threw in 2 different looks with this camel coat because I can’t get enough of it. It is an amazing color and I am obsessed with it’s clean lines and minimal elements. And the best part is that is under $60! I am going to live in this (as well as my black and grey coats) during the winter because these neutrals will go with any outfit.

I love having a few pieces in my closet that no matter I put on, they always make me put together. Anytime you are running out of the house and want a chic and polished look, a trench coat can provide that extra effortless touch. Add some lipstick and you are good to go!

I topped off this outfit with a delicate necklace and rings from The Songbird Collection. They have something for everyone and I am excited to get a few more pieces to spice up my jewelry collection. Check out The Songbird Collection and the wide variety of jewelry they offer. Make sure you use code LILYGL for a 20% discount!

Cozy Sweater Dress

After all of us have stuffed ourselves with a big Thanksgiving meal (multiple in my case), you need a few comfortable items to wear for the weekend. Sweater dresses are a great choice because they are loose fitting and can easily be dressed up or down. Throw on some boots or flats and you’ll be out the door in no time. Who else’s waistline needs a break for a bit?

This GAP dress is so soft and cozy that I could easily sleep in it. Layering it with tights and a coat will be a must in the dead of winter. The light grey color was what drew me to it (this is no surprise due to my addiction to grey) and I am loving the versatility of this piece.

Hope everyone had a great holiday with family and friends! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Holiday season is upon us and within a few days, the festivities will begin. Within the next month, there will be lots of holiday parties, family time and everyone’s schedule becomes hectic. So how do you balance work, kids, holiday shopping, cooking, party planning AND still look amazing on top of it? When those relatives come into town who you only see once a year, you still want to dress to impress. BUT…you are busy with a million other things and still want to be able to eat your fill at the table. So spending a ton of time on your outfits & style is pretty far down the list. Hopefully my tips below will help give you some peace of mind 🙂

1 . Plan Ahead. *Duh, Kelli. I know to do that!* But hurry, do it quickly before it slips your mind! If you have 5 minutes before you go to bed, clear a little space in your closet. Pick out a few outfits for Thanksgiving, any other dinner or events you have in the upcoming weeks. If you are hosting Thanksgiving, throw in a “dinner prep” outfit if you like to wear something more comfy to cook in. Even it’s sweats and a tee, hang those up so you are fully prepared. Spending time (even if it’s a few minutes) to prep your looks will give you the ability to throw on an outfit and rush out the door with confidence.

2 . Accessorize. Scarves, statement boots, jewelry are great ways to pump up your style volume. This allows you to wear more casual, comfortable pieces, but spice it with accessories. You could throw on a plain tee, but a killer necklace or scarf will take it to the next level. Extra tip: hang up your accessories with your clothes so it saves you that much more time & helps pull together a complete look.

3 . When In Doubt, Wear Black. This is one tip that I exercise the most. Black is slimming and when in doubt of what to wear, I always reach for black items. It always looks chic and classic, no matter what circumstance.

4 . Add A Cozy, Top Layer. Whether it be a trendy jacket, an oversized cardigan or your favorite sweater, just add that extra element to your look. This GAP turtleneck sweatshirt (pictured) is such an unique find and I love the street wear, effortless vibe it gives. Plus, it’ll help hide those extra pounds from the mountain of mashed potatoes smothered in gravy that I plan to shovel in on Thursday 🙂

Quick update…we just moved our furniture back into our house after having hardwood floors put in on our main level. After weeks of being displaced, it’s so nice to be blogging from my own couch again! It feels like a brand new home and the dark oak looks so beautiful. I can’t wait to give the walls a coat of fresh, clean white paint to brighten up the rooms. Once it’s all done, I will throw up a post featuring the new floors, so stay tuned!

Now onto my obsession with camel…I can’t seem to get enough neutrals lately and I am loving this color for fall. Not only is it versatile, it never seems to go out of style. Sometimes bold or pastel trends come and go, but a soft beige is always fashionable. Camel is seasonless and I love to pair it with white in the summer and darker shades in the colder months. It helps bright colors pop and adds a soothingly element to your look. Overall, I can’t get enough…and to prove my point, I have to confess that I just bought a camel coat tonight at Forever 21. Help, the struggle is real 😉

90’s Vibes

The 90’s has a special place in my heart since that was the decade of my childhood. So many memories of spending hours chatting on AOL, obsessing over Leonardo DiCaorio in Titanic, filming Spice Girls videos (fun fact I was always Posh), loving Lisa Frank trapper keepers, wanting to be as cool as Clarissa from “Clarissa Explains It All” and singing my heart out to Mariah Carey. Yes, those were the days. Simpler days…without cell phones and spending Friday nights at Blockbuster Video (RIP).

If you haven’t noticed, 90’s fashion is back in full force. This is the first decade were fashion has looped back around that I remember when the trends began (I was a toddler during the 80’s so that doesn’t count). It’s a bit surreal and needless to say, it makes me feel old! 90’s fashion was full of moodiness, grunge, lots of flannel, Doc Martens, floral dresses, denim jackets and with healthy dose of minimalism. Some of these biggest trends that have resurfaced are crop tops and chokers and they seem to be everywhere these days. It’s fun to see how some styles creep, creep (sorry, had to throw that in) back into fashion and then get reinvented.

When I paired this oversized cardigan with my black slip dress & simple accessories, it just screamed 90’s. I am such a sentimental person and love to reminiscence, so I knew I had to do a blog post based on my nostalgia. So thanks for coming down this trip down memory lane with me!

Blazers Aren’t Just For The Office

Why do I love a good blazer? It can makes me feel a little more polished and refined, but it doesn’t always mean you have to be at an office to wear one. Throwing one on with jeans and flats is great way to elevate your look, while keeping a laid back vibe.  Since it’s fall and all about the layers, this is a good alternative to a sweater or cardigan. You can pair your favorite blazer with a scarf or hat and you’ve got yourself a very chic outfit!

I have always been a jewelry hound and though my tastes have changed over the years, my passion has still held fast. Working within the jewelry industry in NYC helped increase my knowledge & love for it. I am forever grateful for those opportunities! I have slowly paired my collection, but have several timeless pieces that I have had for years and couldn’t imagine parting with.

Simple and delicate pieces have really been my jam lately. I love to layer thin necklaces or throw on a minimal watch to add an element of chic to my outfits. Whatever your style is..trendy, feminine, classic, glam, colorful..just make sure you pair it with jewelry that you love & feel confident in. It is another way to help your personality shine through and add a bit of pop to your look.

Weekends are all about relaxing, hanging out with family and catching up on any missed tv shows during the week. Well, that’s what my normal Saturday & Sunday looks like! I love being able to have a few stylish, comfy pieces that I can wear for errands or a laid back dinner. My husband and I tried a new pizza place last night and it was just what we needed. We sat at the bar while the cooks made the pizza & slide it in the brick oven, which was oddly entertaining. Great end to an exhausting political week…and not going to lie, anytime is great when pizza is involved 🙂

I love topping off any outfit with my suede jacket and Adidas Stan Smiths. Something about that combo makes me feel stylish, but not over done. Lastly, I have listed some other great jacket options below that won’t break the bank. Enjoy!

For The Love of (Faux) Leather

A good (faux) leather jacket is a great essential to have in anyone’s closet. They look killer in black, but also I love them in hunter green, burgundy, grey, navy and camel. It can be played up with a cozy scarf, jeans, heels or you can throw it on over a feminine dress to add an edge to your look. With such a versatile piece, you can wear it through out each season and it never goes out of style. My Pinterest board is littered with buttery jackets and I wish I could buy them all!

I purchased the one above (the first one linked below) from the Anniversary sale at Nordstrom, but it’s still under $100 and very good quality. It has the right amount of zipper detail without being too much and the material is heavy. I have listed a few others below as well 🙂
